v1.7.1
A quieter update prompt
- When a new version is available, the app now shows one prompt and keeps it current. Previously each background check added another prompt behind the first, so choosing Later could reveal the same prompt again.

v1.7.0
Derivv Pro is now free to start
- Create an account, download the app, and resize, convert, and export as many images as you like at no cost. No card, no daily limits.
- Pro ($15/month) unlocks saved presets, smart crop, AI upscaling, auto-tagging, and publishing straight to S3, R2, Spaces, or WordPress. Upgrade from the account menu whenever you need it.
- Free trials are no longer offered. If you're on a trial today, nothing changes until it ends.
- The derivv command-line tool now ships inside the installer, so Install CLI in the app works on a fresh install.
v1.6.10
Offline mode no longer gets stuck
- Fixed the app sometimes showing “offline” or “offline access expired” after it had been idle for a while, even when you were connected. It now re-checks your connection and signs you back in automatically when you return to the app.
v1.6.9
Derivative fixes: aspect ratio, full batches, and web imports
- Fixed aspect ratio being ignored on images brought in from the web scanner — your preset's aspect ratio (e.g. 16:9) is now applied as expected.
- A single slow or stuck image no longer stops the rest of a batch — processing skips it and keeps going so the whole set finishes.
- Web scanner imports are more reliable: when an image's preferred source fails to download, it now falls back to the original instead of failing.
v1.6.8
Web scanner import fix
- Fixed 'resource id invalid' errors that could appear when importing images from the web scanner — imports go through cleanly now.
v1.6.7
Lossless WebP fix and a refreshed app layout
- Fixed lossless WebP derivatives (Compression set to 0) coming out corrupt — showing as broken thumbnails — when pixel-density (DPI) was enabled. They now save and render correctly everywhere.
- Refreshed the app layout: the output preset settings now live in their own panel on the right, the presets list on the left collapses to a slim icon rail to give you more room, the account menu moved down to the bottom of the presets sidebar, and the top bar is a touch slimmer.
v1.6.6
Reliability and behind-the-scenes hardening
- Fixed an edge case where deleting a derivative could affect more than the one you intended.
- A large pass on the app's foundations — moving image and data handling deeper into the native layer and adding extensive automated tests — so future releases are steadier and quicker to ship.
v1.6.5
Preset fixes: smart crop/upscale, unsaved dot, and WebP thumbnails
- Smart Crop and Smart Upscale no longer show as turned on for presets where you never enabled them — existing presets are corrected automatically the next time you open them.
- The orange 'unsaved changes' dot now clears after a single save instead of needing a second save.
- Fixed a 'preset save failed' database error that could happen when saving with ⌘S.
- WebP derivatives that showed as broken thumbnails on macOS now render correctly.
v1.6.4
Presets save again, plus the derivv CLI and steadier sign-in
- Fixed a bug where saving an output preset silently failed — your presets save and stick again.
- You stay signed in until you sign out yourself: fixed a launch-time case that could sign you out, and hardened how your session is stored and refreshed so transient hiccups never log you out.
- Signing out of the desktop app no longer ends your web session, and a device you sign out from the web is detected the moment the app launches.
- New `derivv load` command-line tool sends images or whole folders to the app, optionally preselecting a saved preset — e.g. `derivv load ./photos --config web-thumbs`.
- Lifetime buyers now see their Founders Edition status and badge in the account menu.
- Added an in-app banner that shows the days left when your trial is winding down.
- Clearer compression labels ('best quality' / 'smallest file'), and the export toast now shows the destination folder.
v1.6.3
Windows build re-shipped
- 1.6.2 went out with macOS and Linux only — the Windows job failed in CI. 1.6.3 carries the same Windows sign-in fix and ships the Windows build.
v1.6.2
Windows sign-in fix (round two)
- 1.6.1's Windows sign-in fix still wasn't quite right — the chunk size was above Windows Credential Manager's actual hard limit. This release drops it to a safe value so sign-in actually works.
v1.6.1
Windows sign-in fix
- Fixed sign-in on Windows for accounts whose session data exceeded Windows Credential Manager's per-credential size limit. Sessions are now stored across multiple entries automatically.
- The 'An update is available' notification now stays on screen until you click Install or Later, instead of disappearing on its own after a minute.
v1.6.0
Upload to S3 and WordPress, plus export layout controls
- Upload your derivatives directly to Amazon S3 (and S3-compatible services) or WordPress without leaving the app. Save destinations in Preferences → Connections, pick one per preset under Output → Upload To, then hit the new upload icon (or ⌘⇧U) in the derivatives toolbar to ship the whole batch. Available on paid plans; credentials are encrypted on our servers and only sent to your machine when you trigger an upload
- New Export Layout option groups derivative files into folders the way you actually want them: by source image, by file format, or by output width — plus a Bundle as .zip toggle that wraps the whole thing into a single archive named after the preset
- New Overwrite Existing toggle decides what happens when a filename collides on export — leave it off (the new default) to get `name-2.jpg`, `name-3.jpg` suffixes that keep your previous exports intact, or flip it on to replace files in place
- Undo a deleted dimension with ⌘Z or the Undo button in the confirmation toast — restores it at its original position in the list
- Drag the left edge of the preset panel to resize it within a tight range; your choice persists across reloads
- Heads-up: after updating, macOS will ask once for permission to read Derivv Pro's keychain entry. This is the OS's standard prompt — click Always Allow and you won't see it again. The new auth layer stores your session more securely than before
v1.5.3
Native menu bar, fresh About, and preset-panel polish
- Filled out the File, Edit, Window, and Help menus with every common action — open images, import CSV, save and switch presets, process, export, delete, toggle the sidebar, open the Web Scanner, jump to Preferences, manage your account, check for updates, view keyboard shortcuts, and more — all wired up with the same shortcuts you already know
- Refreshed About dialog under the Derivv Pro app menu with the logo, current version, and links to the docs, Hatchmatter, and support
- Fixed an issue where the watermark file would disappear when you toggled the watermark off and back on — your PNG and placement settings now stick around
- Fixed an authentication edge case that could keep showing 'Couldn't reach server' on every window focus instead of signing you out cleanly when the server actually rejected your session
- Tightened up the preset panel: every row now reads label → info → input the same way, and small tweaks to the preset name and width/height inputs (typed text no longer looks muted, Escape now exits the field, and dark-mode number spinners are visible)
v1.5.2
Quieter background sync
- Stopped showing a 'Couldn't reach server' message during routine background checks — your cached session keeps working through brief network blips, and you'll only see an error if something you're actively doing actually fails
v1.5.1
Device management, drag-to-reorder, and AI-feature stability
- Manage signed-in devices from your account page — see every machine currently signed in to the desktop app and sign one out without affecting the others
- Doubled the default device allowance: you can now be signed in on up to 2 devices at once (laptop + desktop, work + home — pick your two)
- Drag image thumbnails to reorder them in the originals strip — derivatives follow the order you set
- Fixed a 1.5.0 issue where Smart Crop, Smart Upscaling, and Auto-Tag could fail to start with a technical 'Failed to load ONNX Runtime' message — these features now load reliably on Direct Distribution builds
- Cleaner error toasts across the app: when something goes wrong, you'll see a friendly explanation instead of an internal error string, and we get notified automatically so we can fix it
- Smart Upscaling no longer re-prompts every time when you've already clicked 'Continue without' — your choice is remembered
v1.5.0
PNG watermarks, refreshed UI, and a crash fix
- New PNG watermark support — drop in a logo or signature, position and scale it on the canvas, and it gets applied to every derivative you generate
- Reorganized the preset panel into collapsible sections so it's easier to find what you're looking for and the panel doesn't scroll forever
- A pass over the desktop UI for consistency, accessibility, and visual polish — tighter spacing, clearer labels, better empty states, and a friendlier login dialog
- Fixed a crash that some long-time users were hitting when adding an image — the app now self-heals an old setting from a previous version on next launch
v1.4.2
Windows fix
- Fixed an issue that prevented Windows users from receiving the 1.4.1 update
v1.4.1
Maintenance update
- Behind-the-scenes security and dependency updates across the desktop app and web platform
- Stability and build improvements
- Note: you will need to sign in again after updating — this is a one-time thing tied to a security improvement to how your login is stored on your device
v1.4.0
Smart Upscaling — Sharper Enlargements, Powered by AI
- New Smart Upscaling — when a derivative is bigger than the source, AI fills in the detail so your enlargements stay sharp instead of going blurry
- Works automatically on any derivative larger than the original by more than 20% — no manual setup per image
- Look for the ✨ badge on derivatives that were enhanced
- One-time download of the upscaling model (~64 MB) the first time you turn it on
- Toggle it on or off anytime in preset settings
v1.3.0
Smart Crop, Auto Tags & Custom Filenames
- New Smart Crop — turn it on and Derivv finds the most important part of your photo (faces first, otherwise the visually interesting region) and crops around it automatically
- New automatic image tags — add the {tags} token to your filename and Derivv tags each image's content for you (great for organizing big batches)
- Customizable filenames — build your own naming pattern with tokens like {name}, {width}, {height}, {scale}, {preset}, and {tags}
- Pick a crop anchor manually (center, top, bottom-right, etc.) when you want full control instead of Smart Crop
- Faster repeat processing — Smart Crop and Smart Upscaling now share the same image load instead of decoding twice
v1.2.0
Web Scanner, AVIF Support & Print-Ready DPI
- New Web Scanner - scan any web page for images and import them directly into the app using the new Chrome extension
- AVIF output format - save derivatives as AVIF for smaller file sizes with adjustable encoding speed
- Preserve print resolution (DPI) - output files now keep the original image's DPI metadata, or set a custom value for print-ready exports
- Keyboard shortcuts at a glance - the empty derivatives panel now shows your most-used shortcuts in a handy carousel
- Processing progress moved to the bottom of the screen so it no longer covers your images
v1.0.2
Desktop App Improvements
- Added unsaved changes indicator in preset sidebar - see at a glance when you have unsaved work
- Added unsaved changes warning dialog when switching presets - prevents accidental loss of work
